Sometimes platform beds will have a headboard and footboard while a simple platform will do for other styles. The simplicity of design is what attracts some people to platform beds. Platform beds are typically constructed using either wood or metal to hold the mattress. Wood platform beds will often be made from strong particleboard or solid wood. Metal platform beds are usually created using sheet steel and tubular steel.
